Marugoto Shokudou

Attended restaurant week at Marugoto Shokudou last week.
Was craving for Japanese food and thought, why not try out this new Japanese restaurant?
Besides, M is going Japan next month.. Let him have more Japanese food in Singapore so that he can tell the difference in quality when he gets there! lolol.
Scully after he comes back, he doesn't want to taste the 'bad' (as some of my Japanese friends have commented) Japanese food in Singapore anymore, then nobody to accompany me when I have my sashimi or ramen cravings! :(

OOTD.

It's a relatively new restaurant, I think.
And they had a special menu for restaurant week, so yay, makes it even more exclusive than just trying out with cost-savings :)

Appetisers:

Avocado Salmon on Japanese Toast/Ika & Ebiko Roll/Renkon Su (seasoned lotus roots)

The crispiness of the slight buttery cracker with soft mushy avocado salmon combi sent my taste buds to heaven!

So did the Ika & Ebiko Roll!
It's prawn roe wrapped with squid rings.

The renkon su was blah. Not a fan of it.

The sashimi for the day was pacific flounder.

Supposed to mix everything on the side with the sashimi and dip them into the sauce!

It was very fresh, and comes with slight crunch when you eat it. And the sauce paired was very unique.
I wonder what sauce it is!

They served the Toro Negima (tuna belly broth) with rice and mushroom sauce.
I don't usually drink soups in Japanese restaurants, be it hot pot or miso soup or whatever cos they tend to be on the saltish side.
But this is so good that I finished the entire bowl (and was actually craving for more :x)

Mains:

Grilled King prawn with Chilean Cod Fish and Pan Seared Scallops

The first flavour I tasted was bitterness when I tried the prawn. It's abit overcooked as well. Not good :(
Thankfully the cod fish was more delectable. So much so that I almost finished it despite promising to share it with M. oops.

Wagyu Beef Steak with Truffled Mash and Rocket Salad.

We specially requested it to be medium (the new waiter told us initially that they can only do it medium rare or well done :/) and it tasted divine.
We both love it a lot despite being slightly full already, espeically after all the rice and soups.

Dessert was Japanese Strawberry Yogurt Pudding.
Light and just the right amount of sweetness to top off the scrumptious meal.
