Chez Vous - Beauty Is Real!

As a leader in Singapore’s beauty salon industry, Chez Vous boldly stands firm on the social media stage against all things digital when it comes to beauty. Stemming from the standards set in the mainstream where most women are photo shopped or digitally enhanced to perfection, the forward-thinking salon raises an internet meme or two, giving a shout out to all women to discover their natural beauty and celebrate #chezvousbeautyisreal. The aim of its latest campaign, #chezvousbeautyisreal, is to liberate women from those unrealistic beauty standards and prove that beauty is attainable, tangible and empowering (#therealme).

In an unprecedented move, on the 7th June 2015, Chez Vous offers every woman, regardless of age and race, the opportunity to experience a full makeover session when they visit Chez Vous @ Ngee Ann City. Every customer is guaranteed no photoshopping and no digital enhancements, just pure pampering bliss. This will be a journey of positive transformation that is real and will hopefully change how women perceive true beauty. While there are no restrictions on the number of people entering the salon, the sessions will be subject to the availability of beauty consultants.

Chez Vous: shā vu\adj Your Place. In French, ‘vis’ akin to Your House

When Chez Vous opened 20 years ago, its founders Thomas Teo and Riz Tan were committed to providing hair services at the highest standards, garnering a loyal following and putting them among the most sought after stylists in Singapore. Today, it is a 2,000 sq ft beauty powerhouse located in the heart of Orchard Road, offering a cutting edge range of signature treatments in an unpretentious yet sophisticated designer interior layout. With a one-of-a-kind “OHDA” (i.e. Only Hair Directors Allowed) policy in place, the salon ensures an unparalleled roster of beauty experts so that clients receive only the best service and advice in creating their individual style. OHDA means their beauty experts are Associate Salon Directors, Directors & Chief Directors only with minimum 10 years of experience, and many were previously salon owners themselves, or academy trainers, leading stylists and salon managers. Not only catered to the local scene, it also houses a Caucasian Specialist Team which has been reviewed and verified by Expat Living and Sassy Singapore editors.

Chez Vous’s vision has remained steadfast since its inception: to inspire possibilities, as well as provide 100% reliability and expertise through their accomplished hair maestros, to produce every customer’s true personality and glamour – in other words, keeping it all real. Because today’s digitised world now highlights beauty standards that most of the time are unrealistic – from body shapes to ageless faces and an infinite number of hair trends – Chez Vous, now more than ever, makes it a point to ensure that their approach is holistic, practical, real and always a pampering experience for its customers.

Chez Vous initiated the Expertligent Fix You Programme which sounds like savior for all beauty addicts who often experiment with new products or technologies, and more often than not, damage our own hair/skin/body :( Chez Vous’ team of directors-only hair professionals will receive any customers who have had unsatisfactory treatments or cuts at other salons and redress any damage done. Armed with a team of experts in various disciplines, Chez Vous is more than well equipped to fix and repair sub-optimal results of hair services such as colouring, cutting, straightening, perming, bleaching etc. This program is an ongoing initiative, and free of charge if there is a lapse of less than one week between the treatment in question and the customer’s visit to Chez Vous; this is limited to 1 customer a day and only from Sundays to Thursdays.

Not just that, Chez Vous other unique initiatives will also include cheeky by-appointment only makeover parties coined “Mix, Mingle, Makeover” as well as our #ThursdayisthenewFriday programme once a month where there will be a surprise treat for all guests e.g. macaroon and wine butler service, waive of bills etc., ongoing campaigns and efforts to support emerging designers. As a show of their support, Chez Vous’ shopfront will regularly be transformed by Singapore’s design personalities on the rise.

  4. This campaign is great! A lot of women are too consumed about their looks, in a bad way. Getting a makeover to enhance the beauty one already has is what real beauty is a good thing.

  8. The trend these days seems to be to get women to focus on the real you, and as the mama of a young girl I am all for it. We need for them to grow up knowing they are wonderful as they are and do not need to look like magazine models to fit in or be accepted.

  9. This is such an awesome campaign. We need to be comfortable in our own skin first, have self-confidence and not to solely depend on make-up and clothes to make yourself you. Nonetheless, it's nice to have a makeover once in a while, to have fun and rejoice in being beautiful. Thanks for sharing!

  10. This is an awesome campaign and we need more of it. We're so bombarded by messages and advertisements that indirectly tell us that we are not ok or that this is what's acceptable. I'm all for campaigns that encourage women to love themselves and be confident about themselves.

  11. I like the concept and vision of Chez Vous, beauty should be real. Beauty should reflect ourselves not edited or change to the stereotype that the society view is beautiful. Agree, we should show #therealme

  12. The unrealistic standard that is imposed to us by society is really damaging to the self-esteem. We need to realize that beauty comes naturally to us.

  13. The model v.s. real life photos are really funny. I think it's a great initiative to help us feel more comfortable with who we are and what we look like as opposed to aspiring to be these models in the magazines.
