Hong Kong Day 2 (Part 2) - Avenue of Stars, SOGO TST

We went to catch A Symphony of Light at Avenue of Stars in the evening <3

 photo photo1_zps5d842432.jpg

Changed into something warmer cos it started to drizzle again and the wind was cold!

M with dunno who. lol.

 photo photo23_zps6c2f4df7.jpg

We attempted a couple shot with the beautiful skyline background.
But it was too windy!! My hair either covered my face or got into his face!
And our faces kinda got frozen by the cold wind.

This is the best shot out of the like, 20, 30 shots we took lol.

 photo photo12_zps9f43e880.jpg

Haiya, show you all the actual background bah.

 photo photo33_zpsec7fdf41.jpg

Looked for an indoor place that can keep the cold out.
So we went to SOGO to have our dinner.

Always love how the thinly-sliced cuttlefish move with the warm air heated by the hot food.
S(^.^)S

Very cute tiny can drinks!

 photo image_5_zpsefe0f165.jpeg

We got alcohol to warm ourselves a lil, lol.

 photo image_7_zpse3305f94.jpeg

And then the next thing we took was Haagen Dazs -___-

 photo image_8_zps57e7d540.jpeg

But hey! At least it's alcohol-flavoured still? :D

Cold & tired us!

 photo image_9_zps6f29ed15.jpeg

Looking through the photos makes me miss HK :`)
It turned out to be quite a good trip, despite us having other distractions around the same period.
As we were planning our financial resources for something else (more exciting hee) in the same month, we had tried to make this Hong Kong trip a more "value-for-money" holiday!
In total, we spent only $550 each for both airfares and accomodation!

Airfare (Round-trip with Jetstar includng luggage to/fro) - $203
Accomodation 1N (Holiday Inn Macau) - $80
Accomodation 4N (Wimdu Austin/TST apartment) - $266

Total - $549! ^^

Hahaha. Okay, pardon me. It's just quite a cheap thrill to be able to spend so little yet enjoy ourselves just the same for this HK trip!
Afterall, we spent most of our time shopping/eating in HK, hence I thought our accomodation need not be fanciful or luxurious cos we don't have time to enjoy it anyways.
Furthermore, M wanted to experience local living, so it was a unanimous decision, whee!

Just thought we could have done better for the flight.
Currently we did SIN-HK-Macau-HK-SIN.
If we were to go Hong Kong (budget) again, I would do SIN-Macau-HK-SIN instead.
It would save us so much time with one less transition from HK to Macau (we spent like 5 hours from HKIA to Macau la) as well as one-trip ferry tickets expenses (forgot though how much are the ferry tickets we bought).

And yes, still Macau first cos there are less shopping to do in Macau so that we don't have to lug heavy luggages when moving over to HK :)

My initial financial plan was as follows:

Airfare (Round-trip with Jetstar includng luggage to/fro) - $203
Accomodation 1N (Holiday Inn Macau) - $80
Accomodation 4N (Wimdu Austin/TST apartment) - $266
Ocean Park tickets - $40
The Peak 3-in-1 combo incl. Mdm Tussauds - $47
Disneyland tickets - $73
Big Buddha cable tickets - $22

Total - $731

All those main attractions above + shopping would be for a very fulfilling 6d5n trip! :)
We skipped The Peak and the Big Buddha cos of the unfavourable weather. And have been there before, so it wasn't a must-go for this trip.

Anyway, tadah! It's possible to plan a HK/Macau trip for less than $1k. Less than $800 in fact!
For those on a budget, yet wishes to visit HK still, you can simply do a prioritization of your needs/wants to plan a more value-for-the-buck holiday. One important thing is to get good deals for the main attraction tickets. You can try booking advance online or get combo tickets or other means of purchasing the tickets to save quite a substantial amount :)

Ask around for others' itinerary so that you can have a reference of the to-dos and remarks others have, basically leeching on their research done la :p
Feel free to ask me for my itinerary if you need! :)

Here are the rest of my entries on the 6d5n Hong Kong/ Macau trip :)

Have fun! <3

Hong Kong Day 2 (Part 1) - HKSGI, One Dim Sum 一點心, Sham Shui Po

Started the day well cos the temperature was slightly warmer, and the sky was not so cloudy!

AOTD
My new bracelet from Macau ;)
It's actually a hair band but i thought it looks nicer on the wrist hehe.

 photo image_zps82c45f7c.jpeg

Just-woke-up us.

 photo image_2_zps5879c628.jpeg

Went to have breakfast at a traditional HK cha chan teng downstairs.
It's opposite Dim Dim Sum :)

 photo image2_zps97d4b51c.jpeg

As the menu was in traditional chinese characters, we tried asking the waiter/owner about certain items.
However, he replied in Cantonese that meant something like "If you don't understand what it means, then don't order that. Just order something you understand mah.. blah blah blah"
Gosh. Hahaha.
Thankfully he was still smiley when saying that, so I just "muted" out his voice and hurriedly order those which we understood!
lol.

Coffee and tea which wouldn't go wrong.

 photo image_3_zps3a439598.jpeg

French toast :D

 photo image_8_zpsfbd5e570.jpeg

The soup maggie came as a set which we simply pointed to on the menu. lol.

^^

Made our way to the SGI kaikan after breakfast.
I always believe that our first stop overseas should be the kaikan if possible. Starts off the trip well! :)

Took the MTR to Prince Edward station.

Made our way to One Dim Sum which was nearby the kaikan.
One of Hong Kong Michelin-starred dim sum eateries!

 photo photo3_zpse7affa41.jpg

Looooooong queue! :(
Thankfully there's the queue number system!
Went souvenir shopping around the area while we wait.

Next we proceeded to Sham Shui Po after hearing from my friend that there're alot of things to shop over there!
Think cheap & wholesale clothings.
Was ready to spend all my monies there, BUT......But sadly, I didn't find anything :(:(
Not a single clothing buy la.
The clothing wasn't to my liking somehow. Mainly long sleeves, "knit wear", baggy tops. Saw a few workdresses, but iirc, they cost about S$69 each for wholesale of 10 pieces. Faints..

 photo image_7_zps99943000.jpeg

Bought many stuff at the electronics area though.
Mobile phone cables, earphones, portable charger etc. Cheap and good!
My 3metre iPhone lightning cable cost only HKD25 / S$4! :D
Samsung 2metre cables were going for only HKD15 / S$2.50. Bought many different colours for my whole family lol.

Had traditional tau huay :O
We were originally attracted to the stall because of the crowd/queue initially, keke.
M said we must be kiasu Singaporeans and go check out the stall as well LOL.

Overall, Sham Shui Po was pretty boring to us, so we went back to the apartment to rest after that.

To be continued in Part 2 :D

Hong Kong Day 3 - Prada, Mongkok, Jumbo floating restaurant

I will blog about Day 3 in Hong Kong first as many had already emailed me to ask about the shopping there!

Yesh, our day 3 was spent shopping! Whee!
Went to Citygate branded outlet at Tung Chung MTR station in the morning for breakfast and outlet shopping.
And also to check out what's available at the outlets before we buy at the main boutiques hehe.

There are outlets for brand names such as Coach, Burberry, Tommy Hilfiger, Levi's, Calvin Klein, Armani Exchange, Dunhill, Esprit, Guess, City Chain, Adidas, Crocs.
However, we didn't spend too long there cos the discounts aren't that great (and my mind was more on Prada, lol!)

Proceed to Prada Space Outlet right after that :D
Took a cab from Central area.

 photo photo2_zpsf8b1d883.jpg

Oh yeah! my highlighter shoes from Jordan!
http://oyhz.blogspot.com/2013/05/hong-kong-wimdu-apartment-dim-dim-sum.html

The journey was about 15-20mins via cab.
Around HKD90.

By the way the Prada outlet has shifted!
We alighted at the wrong place cos I took the old address :X
Thankfully I caught a glimpse of the outlet right before we alighted and so we walked about 5-10mins back.

The miu miu large coffers were going for only S$1.5/6k??
SO CHEAP LA.
If only they have the smaller ones left! :/

 photo image_zps3318f88e.jpeg

Was kinda eyeing this, but decided not to buy in the end.
Brown isn't exactly my colour..

Decided to go for Jumbo floating restaurant that evening since it's at the same area, Aberdeen.

There're free shuttle boats that takes you from the pier to the restaurant.

*NOTE*
The boats/jumbo piers are very fancifully decorated, grand and easily distinguished, so please do not be cheated by any other boats awaiting at the pier!!

We didn't know back then and took this boat cos the person shouted for us to hop on to Jumbo -_-

 photo image_zps7a12f367.jpeg

We checked if it's free to go Jumbo.
He nodded his head and signalled for us to sit down.
BUT, halfway through, he asked for money!!
No choice but to pay him cos we were already in the middle of the sea/river >.<
Was cheated of HKD60 / S$10 for the 5 min ride :(

Century egg that cost SGD$4 lol.
It's appetizer for 2.
I wonder if a person is eating alone, will they serve just half an egg?? Hahha. Will look pathetic i think.

白牡丹 tea which taste very good!
Very light, refreshing and wouldn't turn sourish or bitter even after we finished our dinner.
Love it! <3

Deep Fried Spare Ribs with Strawberry Sauce

 photo image_24_zps1aec59c5.jpeg

I'm not a fan of pork usually, but this is good!
Had expected it to come with fresh strawberries as toppings as shown in their menu, but it was cooked with only the juice instead.
Taste like honey ribs, but with slight scent of strawberries. Super nice combi!

 photo image_34_zpsdb294bdb.jpeg

Bill came up to HKD933 / S$150 for 2 pax.

 photo image_18_zps9f51f1e0.jpeg

There was an area where you can dress up as emperor or empress (lol) and have a photo taking session for HKD80 or HKD120.
You'll get a 5R size photo with Jumbo Floating Restaurant's frame.

I'm a modern empress with very funky shoes! hahaha.
